![]() The insatiable demand for fruity Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc in the United Kingdom continues unabated while the interest in her Pinot Noirs also grows. Quite whether the rapid increase in production (New World producers suffer none of the limitations on planting that their EU counterparts do) will be soaked up by demand or will force down prices remains to be seen. In the meantime New Zealand wines will continue to fetch the highest average bottle prices of the major exporters to Britain...and continue to supply us with delicious wines which often have a complexity lacking in wines from the hotter parts of the New World. As a rule of thumb guide to areas, look to Hawke’s Bay for Chardonnay, Cabernet and Merlot; Marlborough for Sauvignon and Pinot Noir; then Central Otago for Burgundian inspired Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
