Enjoy the delights of six classic French wines from the country's top regions. Featuring elegant Chablis, flinty Sancerre and crisp Muscadet alongside red-berry Beaujolais, plummy Claret and blackberry-infused Côtes du Rhône. Six very different styles, all equally delicious!
2 bottles each of the following:
Chablis, Domaine des Valery 2007 Textbook Chablis from one of the area's most successful producers. It has green-tinged hues, an elegant slightly steely quality with aromas and flavours of freshly baked brioche. Sancerre, André Dezat et Fils 2007 André Dezat and his sons produce one of the best Sancerres we have tasted; it is dry, fruity with a wonderfully delicate bouquet and great length. Their vineyards have three different types of soil which give added complexity. Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine Sur Lie, Domaine Fief de la Brie 2007 An attractive white with crisp acidity that is ideal with seafood. The wine is aged on its lees, or sediment, for six months to impart more body to the wine. The grapes come from François Bonhomme's finest vineyard. Morgon Domaine de la Chaponne, Laurent Guillet 2006 Tremendous stuff from Laurent Guillet, a keen young grower with superbly situated vines. Very fragrant, packed with bright soft cherry fruit that drinks well young or equally matures impressively in the medium term. Château Montaiguillon, Montagne-Saint-Emilion 2005 A delicious supple red fruit character of plums, blackcurrants and cherries backed up by good structure and ripe tannins. It will age well. The property is wonderfully situated looking down to Saint-Emilion and Pomerol. Château Suzeau, Rousset-les-Vignes Côtes du Rhône-Villages 2005 The soil here imparts a firm mineral core to the wine overlaid with ripe plum and strawberry fruit. Xavier Tronc has also increased the ripeness of the grapes through radically changing the vineyard layout relative to the sun. ![]() Style: Dry whites & fruity reds
