Tanners Trade News
Trade Update - January 2025
From 1st February 2025 new alcohol Duty rates come into effect, as announced by the Chancellor in her October Budget last year. Duty easement comes to an end and the new rates not only include inflationary increases but also a new banding based on 0.5% increments of alcohol ABV.
As an industry, we have lobbied hard to challenge the end of Duty easement as this adds significant complexity to our businesses and, in our opinion, penalises wine-producing regions where higher alcohol wines are often a natural consequence of environmental factors.
