Château Haut-Bages Libéral, 5e cru classé Pauillac 2023 (organic) En Primeur - Case of 6

£153.00

The Pauillac member of the Villars-Lurton stable made plenty of wine this year, 53 hl/ha and all of it biodynamic with that clean, fresh Villar feel that Claire puts on her wines. Darker in colour with a riper, richer nose from being further up the Médoc, the fruit fills the mouth and there’s some chalky tannin behind it. More intense than the Margaux wines, it has drive and presence as well as a fuller finish. A good, well-made choice this year.

Château Haut-Bages Libéral

A narrow country lane separates half of the vineyards of Haut-Bages Libéral and those of Château Latour with the other half bordering those of Pichon Baron on the Bages plateau. The gravelly vineyards overlook the Gironde and offer a prime site. In 1982 the estate was bought by Bernadette Villars and her daughter, Claire, is now in overall control producing great wines and moving the estate towards organic and biodynamic viticulture.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
