The Cabernet varieties show a lovely raspberry quality this year, the whole is lifted and delicately perfumed with crisp red fruits and rose petals while the Merlot and Petit Verdot bring darker, softer blueberry and blackberry. Le Volte is always a nicely balanced and elegant taster of coastal Tuscany greatness, the 2023 offers lovely freshness and elegance, with fine silky tannins and a pleasing turn of earth, crushed stones and mediterranean herbs. 13.5% vol. Bright and floral on the nose with hints of chamomile and Russet apples. A touch of vanilla joins on the palate which shows excellent freshness and mineral notes before a fine finish.

"The 2022 Tignanello is such an elegant, poised wine. Brisk acids cut through a core of red Sangiovese fruit. Crushed owers, mint, cinnamon, rose petal and a kiss of French oak appear later, adding notable brightness. The 2022 is a decidedly mid-weight Tignanello, but all the elements are very nicely balanced throughout. Tignanello saw rain episodes at the end of the season, like most properties, but steep, well-draining hillsides were a clear advantage. The blend is 78% Sangiovese, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, essentially the classic proportions here." 95 Points Vinous.com

From the Sassicaia stable comes this bright, sappy, aromatic, red full of red fruit style. Fresh cranberry and raspberry fruit underpinned with ripe tannins, an attractive herb character and a delicious, juicy acidity.

"Guidalberto 2023 requires a little teasing from the glass. Closed and mineral, it unfurls with blackberry, blackcurrant, sweet cherry, spice, and earth. It offers a real brooding character, and with time, hints of leather and tobacco contrast with the succulent ripe fruit. But it's the tannins and grip on the palate that really sets this apart: whilst the fruit is plush and ripe, it has a core that's lithe and mineral: the hallmark Tenuta San Guido elegance. Carlo Paoli has crafted a particularly nuanced and striking Guidalberto this vintage. Finishing long and radiant, we are left assured that Guidalberto has never been so close in quality to Sassicaia, all whilst expressing its own terroir and character. Inspite of the heat this vintage these is huge elegance and balance in this wine. Plenty of ripe fruit but a wonderful restraint and sophistication. It is fruity, fleshy and juicy too!

La Poja is a single vineyard, pure late-harvested Corvina, aged in new oak barriques for twenty months, a further eight months in large old Slavonian barrels, then ten months in bottle ahead of release. Comparisons are made with Amarone, but La Poja is not produced from dried grapes! Baking spices, mocha and vanilla from the barrels combine with black cherry, blackberry and plum fruits, notes of cola and gorgeously perfumed dark flowers and wild herbs; this is powerful and energetic, rich yet lifted, with lovely acidity, fine tannins, a pleasing crunch, and great mineral expression too.
