Château Phélan Ségur, Saint-Estèphe 2023 En Primeur - Case of 6

£186.00 Sold Out

Véronique Dausse, general manager, is extremely capable. Not only is she overseeing a big improvement in quality here, her marketing skills mean that everyone knows about it too! Driving into the property takes you round the parkland with lake beyond, in the lee of the grand château itself. The place has presence, and the wine has it as well. Very representative of Saint-Estèphe, the plummy core washes over a tempered stony palate, ripe in the mouth yet mouthwateringly fresh on the finish. It is very true to the vintage, yet carefully made with some concentrated Cabernet giving what Véronique describes as, Breeding. The upward trend continues. 5-15 years.

Château Phélan-Ségur

One of the estates in Bordeaux with its Irish origins showing in the name. It now comprises 66 hectares located between Montrose and Calon-Ségur and was sold in 2017 to Belgian shipping magnate Philippe van de Vyvere. The property and grounds are very impressive, on slopes above the Gironde.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
