Hermitage Blanc, Domaine Colombier 2022 En Primeur - Case of 6

£270.00 Sold Out

Such intensity! Blossom, grapefruit, stone fruits, pain d'epice, apple tart and a little toast all leap from the glass. This concentration follows through on to the palate too with wonderful balance, depth and texture, so very long and lingering. Wow! 3-15 years.

Domaine du Colombier

Florent Viale is a tall, willowy man with a passion for his wines. He took over the family domaine in 1991 from his father (Gaby). Prior to Florent’s arrival the wine was sold to négociants, but he has now reinvented the estate and it is one of the most prominent in Crozes and Hermitage.

He now has 18 ha of vines (in Crozes and Hermitage) and 16 of apricot trees. All the vines are around the domaine and the village of Mercurol. They have just 1.6 ha of red vines on the hill of Hermitage in the sought after Beaume, les Dionnières and Croix du Torras areas, plus 0.24 ha of white Hermitage. Lutte raisonnée is practiced in the vineyards, as stricter organic or biodynamic approval is almost impossible due to the fragmented nature of the vineyards. His methods are traditional with all wines spending 2-3 years in 600 litre demi-muids, and the wines are bottled without filtration or fining to retain maximum character and complexity. Axel, Florent’s son, usually found hands-on in the vineyard with his father is currently taking a sabbatical in Peru. They make intense and powerful wines that have good structure and age well

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
