Altesse

Altesse, also known as Roussette, is an ancient white wine grape variety primarily grown in the Savoie region of eastern France. Its origins are debated—some believe it came from Cyprus, while others suggest local Alpine heritage. Best in cool areas and at altitude, Altesse thrives in the mountainous climate of Savoie, where it benefits from long growing seasons. It produces elegant wines with vibrant acidity and aromatic complexity. The typical flavour profile includes floral notes of honeysuckle and acacia, with hints of stone fruits like peach and pear, as well as a touch of almond and citrus. Altesse-based wines are often age-worthy, developing richer textures over time.
