Ancre Hill Estates

Ancre Hill Estates is the brainchild of Richard Morris, his wife Joy and their four children. Richard’s back ground is in the City. The first vineyards were planted in April 2006 the second the following year.

The first site, called Folly View, is a six acre site planted mostly to Chardonnay and Seyval Blanc with a small amount of Triomphe and Pinot Noir. The second ‘Town’ site is 4 acres of Pinot Noir. Both vineyards have a south facing aspect and have limestone soils. Richard has sunk a huge amount of thought and effort into making Ancre Hill a thoroughly 'eco-friendly' winery; all water is re-used having been through an extensive reed-bed filtration system, while the walls are made of straw bales! The aim is to be as carbon neutral as possible. The vineyard is set in the middle of the Wye valley with the Brecon Beacons to the North, and you can visit for tours, tastings and a cup of tea!
