Pronounced ‘Bual’ in Portuguese so logically spelt that way in English. Found in Spain and Portugal, but its principal home is on the island of Madeira. One of the Malvasia family, it makes medium-fortified wines which sit between Verdelho and Malmsey in terms of sweetness.
