Casal Branco

The Casal Branco Estate is situated on the left bank of the Tagus River, at Almeirim in the Ribatejo region of southern Portugal. This impressive property has been in the same family for over 2 centuries.

The large estate is 660 hectares in total of which about 140 hectares are given over to growing grapes for the estate's wines. The estate specialises in native Portuguese varieties but has some international varieties as well. The winery building dates back to the 18th Century though more modern techniques and equipment are employed inside it! The vineyards of the estate now cover what was once one of the largest royal falcon hunting grounds in Portugal. The estate also has a renowned stud farm breeding pure Lusitano horses.
