Cesanese

A variety you’ll find in Lazio, and by extension the eateries of Rome. Quite dark in colour, with blackberry and mulberry fruit and propped up by silky tannins. In bygone times it was often quite fizzy, sweetish and served cold – rather like red Lambrusco.
