Tinta Negra
Used predominantly in the production of Madeira, Tinta Negra can be made into various styles of Madeira wine, in lieu of the increasingly rare Sercial, Boal, Verdelho and Malmsey, the four main grapes that give their names to those styles. Otherwise, you will most likely encounter it in the Canary Isles as an everyday white. Previously known as Tinta Negra Mole, the Madeirans successfully campaigned to drop the Mole; we wonder why!
