Viorica

Viorica is an aromatic white grape variety indigenous to Moldova, developed in the 1960s by crossing the obscure Aleatico with the workhorse Seibel 13-666. Moldova’s moderate continental climate gives it a distinctive floral and citrus character. Like many Eastern European white varieties, Viorica wines are typically dry and medium-bodied, with citrussy flavours of white peach, orange blossom, and lemon zest, along with herbal undertones. Its bright acidity and floral profile make it an excellent match for relatively light, summery Mediterranean cuisine such as grilled fish, fresh salads, and goat’s cheese.
