Arneis
A fine flavoured, full-bodied and well-scented white grape from Piemonte that you’ll find in the posh restaurants of Milan where it has become a bit of a cult wine. Often it is listed as the white wine in a Barolo or Barbaresco producer’s stable, and consequently has a price point to match. However it is of high enough quality to carry this off! Saved from near-extinction in the 1980s as a clutch of far-sighted growers saw its qualities in a more fruit-driven market, its heartland is now around Roero and Langhe although you may find it in Sardinia.
