Berton Vineyards

Berton Vineyards were originally established in 1996 by Bob and Cherie Berton in the Barossa Valley, South Australia. The first few years were spent establishing their Shiraz and Chardonnay vineyards. In 2005 when looking for a winery to process their fruit themselves, they had the opportunity to purchase a former Southcorp winery in the small town of Yenda. In order to do this they joined forces with Jamie Bennett, Paul Bartholomaeus and winemaker James Ceccato who together formed the Berton Vineyard Company as it is today. They are now one of the 20 largest wineries in Australia. Sustainability at all stages and particularly in the winery are important to them and technology is being used to reduce energy usage, improve water recycling and to reduce their carbon footprint. The are also members of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia.
