Domaine Fief de la Brie

For five generations the Bonhomme family has been farming and producing wine at Gorges in the heart of the Muscadet region. The Fief de la Brie estate was founded in 1870 and consists of some 30 hectares of beautifully situated vineyards in the commune of Gorges to the west of the Sèvre Nantais river.

The estate is planted soley with Melon de Bourgogne, also known as Muscadet. François Bonhomme took over the reins in 1994 and has over seen the introduction of more modern wine making techniques including, in the 2000s, a move to fermenting and ageing in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and away from the tradition glass tile lined tanks which were more commonly found across the region at the time. More recently they merged with neighbours, Drouet Frères, and have been subsequently taken over by Ackermann, and now trade under the umbrella groupe of Orchidées, Maisons du Vin.
