Kontoura
Kontoura is an indigenous white grape variety from Greece, primarily grown in the southern regions of the country, less so on the islands. Known for its resilience to warm climates and dry conditions, Kontoura makes wines with bright acidity and refreshing character. There are similarities with Chardonnay grown on poor soils, producing almost a Chablis style with flavours of citrus, green apple, and stone fruits. It is has a subtle, balanced feel when aged in oak barrels, while un-oaked blends benefit from added freshness and structure. Like many indigenous Greek wines it pairs well with seafood, grilled vegetables, Greek salads, and fresh cheeses.
