Lagar de Cervera
This is a family concern and a subsidiary of La Rioja Alta SA which was established in 1890 and is based in the town of Haro in the region of Rioja. In 1988 the company purchased the facilities and vineyards of Fernandez Cervera in Pontevedra, transforming them over time into the largest and most modern bodega in DO Rias Baixas which was finally completed in 2013.
Now renamed Lagar de Fornelos, there are a little over 65 hectares producing high-quality wines from the Albariño vines, both pergola and wire-trained, in the O Rosal area. Only 60% of the grapes' juice is used, ensuring the utmost purity of flavour in Lagar de Cervera. The modern winery has a variety of stainless steel tanks to make just two white wines ( Lagar de Cervera and Pazo de Seoane Rosal), and a distillation room with traditional pot stills which produces Galician 'orujo', a grappa or eau-de-vie spirit which is a traditional Galician speciality.
