Often partnering Viognier and the much less well-known Roussanne, this is a high-quality white from the Rhône Valley where it reaches its apogee on the hill of Hermitage and features greatly in Crozes-Hermitage. You may also find it in the Languedoc, California and Australia. Soft, often quite rich with pear skin and honeysuckle notes, it’s a very drinkable variety with good personality.
