Sercial

The grape variety seen on the driest style of Madeira wine bottles, Sercial has very high acid levels but good aromatics and, as a fortified wine made in the ‘canteiro’ method, is incredibly long-lived. On the Portuguese mainland it goes by the name Esgana Cão, which translates as ‘Dog Strangler’… summing it up nicely!
