Trentham Estate
Trentham Estate is owned and run by the Murphys, a grape-growing family who first established vineyards at Merbein in 1909. The family moved to Trentham in 1960 but the company was only officially launched in 1988.
The first vintage was made with only 6 tonnes of grapes but since then the Estate has grown to over 50 hectares with an annual crush of 1200 tonnes. The vineyards are planted with classic red and white varieties as well as more experimental grapes such as Taminga (a three way cross of Riesling, Traminer and Farana, used to make sweet wine.)
