Prosecco
The grape makes the infamous sparkling wine, taking its name from a village in the region north of Trieste. Its style is light, hints of grape and lemon with a sweetish edge which can mask some unripe flavours in poor hands. There is huge demand for Prosecco and every bunch harvested, often regardless of quality, is pressed! Its strictly incorrect synonym is Glera, although Glera covers various Prosecco sub-varieties and other varieties coerced into making more fizz.
