Taylor's Quinta de Vargellas, Vintage Port 2022 En Primeur - Case of 6

£180.00

75cl ALC 20%

This displays great density and power, a core of rich black fruits with a minty edge, notes of cherry, plum, and blackberry - ripe but not overtly sweet. Full-bodied and dense, there is a pleasing sweet edge that gives an undulating feel, and there is a contained power - all neatly defined. There is a confident, savoury swagger here, it's a nicely balanced, sophisticated and long Vargellas.

Taylor's

Probably the best known of all Port houses, the firm known today as Taylor’s was founded by Job Bearsley who was a general trader. The famous Taylor’s 4XX logo is in actual fact a wool mark!

It was Job’s son Peter who moved the company to Oporto in 1709 and they were the first English family to purchase property in the Douro in 1744. In 1816 Joseph Taylor joined the firm and it was soon trading under his name, 1836 saw the arrival of John Fladgate and Morgan Yeatman. Descendants of these three families have run the firm ever since, and it remains independent. David Guimaraens is the wine-maker here, producing ‘first growth’ Vintage Port. Taylor’s were the first to plant single variety vineyards at Quinta de Vargellas.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
