Château Ausone, Saint-Emilion 2023 En Primeur - Case of 3

£1,320.00

The last of an excellent lineup tasted at the chai, the Grand vin is superb! A delicious nose of ripe black fruit, floral, dark berries and spice hint at the underlying power and svelte nature of the Ausone. Irresistible, it delivers a concentrated core of dark fruit, seamlessly integrated oak, velvety tannins and joy. Add into the mix an evident minerality and saline, mocha notes on the finish you get an effortless, precise wine not to be missed! 5-15+ years.

Château Ausone

One of the most famous properties in Bordeaux, Ausone takes its name from the Roman poet Ausonius who owned vineyards and possibly had a villa on the site of the vineyard.

The modern era begins with the appointment of Pascal Delbeck as winemaker in 1976 when the property was jointly owned by the Dubois-Challon and Vauthier families. The Vauthiers became sole owners in the 1990s. Since then Ausone has gone from strength to strength making the most of the superb terroir of its seven hectares situated on the limestone escarpment next to the town of Saint-Emilion. Today Alain Vauthier and his daughter Pauline run the estate, following organic and biodynamic principles as closely as possible.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
