Jonata Le Sangre de Jonata, Santa Ynez Valley 2020 En Primeur - Case of 3

98% Syrah, 2% Viognier aged in French oak (35% new), and enormously impressive, quietly gathering a cult-following. Incredibly deep and dense, loaded with rich blue-black and purple(!) fruits, lots of pressed flowers, resinous notes, wild and savoury pockets, and so spicy, herby, and fragrant. Full bodied, with great energy and a tangy salinity, it pops with bright red fruit detailing, giving a pleasing lift and added dimensions. It has a long life ahead and will prove to be a rare wine indeed. 5-15 years.

Jonata

Jonata is the second estate under The Hilt umbrella. Although also under the control of winemaker Matt Dees it’s very different in terms of climate, soils and grape varieties. Although still in Santa Barbera, it’s much further, inland in the Ballard Canyon AVA where the maritime influence of the Santa Rita Hills meets the warmer climate of Happy Canyon. The soils here are sandy rather than rocky and the grape varieties are mainly Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, so it all complements The Hilt perfectly.

About En Primeur

Lying Abroad/En Primeur/In Bond Wines

Wines offered ‘Lying Abroad’ or ‘En Primeur’ provide a good way to secure some of the most sought after wines at opening prices. In addition we ensure it is the cheapest way to buy favourite mid-priced wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône, so please ask us for our offers or check our website for latest reports. Prices are clearly marked in our sales literature and are exclusive of duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT. Shipment of claret and Port normally takes place around 30 months after the vintage, burgundy and Rhône usually more quickly. A second invoice for the duty, shipping, marine insurance and VAT on the value of the wine is charged at the time of shipment - view current duty rates. There are no further charges for deliveries to a UK mainland home or work address. Your Lying Abroad purchases are covered under The Bunch Code of Practice which can be sent on request or viewed here.
